Gallium

Gallium was discovered in 1875 by the French chemist Paul Emile Lecoq de Boisbaudran. To quote Wikipedia: "It was later claimed that ... [Lecoq] had also named gallium after himself: "Le coq" is French for "the rooster" and the Latin word for "rooster" is "gallus". Lecoq [later] denied this conjecture."
